A UK based EPC contractor has been awarded a contract for the design of a new
offshore oil production platform as part of a large oilfield expansion. One of
the objectives of the project was to mimic phase 1 of the field development wherever
possible. However, with much higher volumes of produced water and with the operator’s
lower corporate oily water discharge limits there were new challenges to be met.
Enhydra were employed at the “select” stage of the development to identify what
changes would be required to meet these changes while minimising space, weight
and chemicals consumption.

Enhydra have recently run a Produced Water Workshop for Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
The workshop was led by David Lloyd (Enhydra’s Technical Director) and was supported
by Tony Dinning of Aquateam. The two experts provided an in-depth insight into
Produced Water Treatment Technologies & System Operation and Produced Water
Chemistry and Microbiology Issues. In addition to this key operational issues
were discussed in an open forum to identify good and bad experiences across KOC.
The whole workshop was run over a 3 day period in Ahmadi, Kuwait and was attended
by key operations and planning personnel from all of KOC’s regional operating sites.

Desanding Hydrocyclones, Sand Clean-up packages, Oily Water Separators (oil, water & solids)
and Dual Media Filters. In addition to process design Enhydra has also prepared the
O&M manuals, training programs and will be supplying commissioning support.

Enhydra has recently completed a short term peer review of a oily water coalescer
system and the associated solids pre-filtration package for an Aberdeen based Oil

An Aberdeen based environmental equipment supply company has recently completed
the fabrication of an oily water separation train incorporating PS-85 for the
removal of total hydrocarbons. Prior to installation the equipment underwent a
live trial. Enhydra’s client commented “We injected at approx 3500 ppm into the
separation unit, with PS-85 as part of the polishing process, we monitored a
discharge at <3ppm consistently running about 4m3 per hour for an hour. Two or
three days later we injected some water as a back flush and slurried the media
nicely to remove it from the polishing vessel so I have to say so far we have
been very pleased.”
October 2008
Enhydra has recently received an order from a major European Oil Industry Service
